Summary
Lead Advisors focuses primarily on the strategic aspects of the client relationship. They are ultimately responsible for retaining the client engagement, and as such are expected to maintain client confidence and trust. Lead Advisors are also responsible for generating new business through client referrals and external prospecting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Leads the client acquisition process by maintaining an effective referral network of existing clients, personal relationships and Centers of Influence (CPAs, attorneys and other industry professionals). Qualifies Prospects through the Discovery, Planning and Mutual Commitment phases of the Sales Process in order to generate new business. Demonstrates proficiency in closing new business.
Presents ideas to a client in a manner that is persuasive, trustworthy and which inspires confidence. Able to read and accurately gauge the client’s reaction and level of comprehension. Able to respond credibly to difficult or not easily answerable client questions. Leads are the primary presenters of analysis, but are expected to introduce other members of the team to this role over time.
Actively mentors team members and helps guide their career development and technical skills. Leads firm-wide training on specific subject matter. Delivers performance feedback as well as reviews on others as Counselor.
Thinks strategically about client issues and formulate plans to advance client goals and objectives. Must be able to translate this strategy into a tangible tactical plan for other team members to execute. Following client approval, oversees all aspects of a client implementation to ensure that both standard as well as client specific planning issues are executed timely and accurately. Sets and manages client expectations consistent with our scope of service.
Provides “big picture” feedback to Associates and Managers to help them refine client deliverables. Directs team members to ensure all client and BJ action items are moved forward and completed. Reviews Wealth Management Scorecard (WMS) to ensure client issues are being reviewed and updated periodically.
Other Duties
Provides input on other colleagues for performance reviews. Evaluates the effectiveness of our procedures and controls, and communicate ways we can continuously improve.
Acts as an advocate for the company and refers qualified candidates to HR to help fill open positions. Participate in employee candidate interviews, where applicable.
Provides back-up support to other team members as necessary.
Professional Qualifications
Typically has seven to ten years in finance or related industry. Expected to be current and knowledgeable with industry trends, terminology and concepts.
Undergrad degree and professional credential (CFP®, CPA, CFA) or advanced degree required.
Baseline proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, Windows) required, and tested prior to hire. Expected to learn other position-related systems on the job.

Organizational; the ability to balance the priorities of maintaining client relationships while also pursuing new business opportunities. The ability to organize and pursue multiple referral channels in order to improve the likelihood of closing more business.
