Jon Jones
How do I help our clients Live a Richer Life®?
When Charles and I founded Brighton Jones, we made a deliberate choice to build something the industry wasn’t offering: a firm that managed clients’ entire financial lives, not just their investment accounts. We called it the Personal CFO model. The idea was simple—if you’re only looking at the portfolio, you’re only seeing part of the picture.
That’s still the foundation of everything we do. But the longer we’ve done this work, the more we’ve understood that the balance sheet is a starting point, not a finish line. We have the privilege of meeting our clients at the intersection of life and wealth, which means we’re present for the moments that matter most. Marriages, new homes, births, retirements. Job loss, illness, divorce, death. You can’t sit with someone through those moments and stay narrowly focused on the portfolio.
What I find most meaningful is helping clients ask a different set of questions—not just “Do I have enough?” but “What is all of this for?” That’s the heart of Wealth Alignment: when your money and your time are moving in the same direction as your values and passions, something shifts. Not just in the portfolio—in how you see your choices and what you do with them. That shift is what we’re built for.
How do I align my time and money with my values and passions to Live a Richer Life®?
My family is at the center of my life. My wife and four kids are my greatest teachers, and we’ve learned more about what matters to us by traveling together, being uncomfortable together, and figuring things out together than we ever have sitting still.
I’m also deeply committed to building a community where people contribute time and resources to something bigger than themselves. I focus most of that work through the Richer Life Foundation, which connects our clients, colleagues, and community partners around causes they genuinely care about, both locally and globally.
I also try to leave room for the things that just make life a little richer: lake time with friends, golf, skiing, and all Seattle and WSU sports (Go Cougs!).
