An extension is a way to ask the Internal Revenue Service for more time to file a tax return. The deadline to file your 2014 return is April 15, 2015. You can extend your deadline to file by six months using Form 4868. With an extension, your deadline to file a tax return is extended

With just 15 days left in 2014, the Senate approved legislation on Tuesday that retroactively extends a number of expired tax provisions for tax year 2014.
